Days out around Cornwall
There is so much to do and see in Cornwall and there are activities to suit everyone. Within easy driving distance are several popular towns and villages with their own unique character, including Padstow, Port Isaac, Boscastle, Wadebridge and St Ives.
The following are details of some of our favourite places and activities:
Gardens and places of interest
The Eden Project
An unforgettable experience, the Eden Project is a dramatic global garden set in a crater overlooking St Austell Bay. There are two biomes, one contains a majestic rainforest with waterfall and the other is host to the fruits of the Mediterranean and the flowers of South Africa and California.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan
Unveiled in 1992 from under decades of overgrowth, the mysterious Lost Gardens and Estate offer over two hundred acres for exploration. There is an Italian Garden, an Alpine inspired Ravine and an outdoor Jungle to explore.
Trebah Gardens
Trebah is a sub-tropical paradise with a stunning coastal backdrop and its own private beach. In spring, it comes alive with a colourful array of rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias. In summer the giant gunnera is a must-see for young and old. There are adventure play areas, childrens trails and special events all year round.
Walking & Cycling
Cycling & The Camel Trail
The Camel Trail is a disused railway line running parallel to the beautiful River Camel. There is a vast array of wildlife along the route. It is mainly traffic free and safe for the whole family to enjoy a memorable day out. The distance between Wadebridge and Padstow is 5 1/4miles. Bikes can be hired from Bridge Bike Hire at the start of the Camel Trail in Wadebridge.
South West Coastal Path
Walking the south west coast path is one of the best ways to enjoy the wonderful coastal scenery, wildlife and heritage in this area. Details of some superb walks to suit all abilities can be found at the above website.
